Basking within bellshot of the historic Bok Tower carillon tower in Central Florida, the Bolsterli Residence is a sleek addition to the ‘old world’ enclave of Mountain Lake. This historic, resort-like community was originally founded in 19XX and represents one of Florida’s most significant collection of Mediterranean-Revival and other european styled residential architecture.
The Bolsterli Residence overlooks Mountain Lake’s eponymous body of water. In fact, the house makes efficient use of its wide lot so that every significant room has inspiring lake views. The low-slung design continues the firm’s experimentations with the floating, rectilinear frame. The Bolsterli Residence shares many similarities with Strang’s preceding design for Lake House, however, the Bolsterli Residence internalizes its covered terrace and thus maintains a more pure expression of the frame. To further differentiate those two designs, the Bolsterli Residence uses exposed concrete elements instead of the Resysta product.
